Maranatha
in History
Maranatha College of Professional Counselling and Training
opened its doors in January 2004. The core functions of the
college are:
Counselor Training,
Psychotherapy,
Social research and
Consultancy.
Kenya Counselling Association, an acknowledged counselling
governing body by the Government of Kenya, recognized, distinguished
and accredited Maranatha College on 1st April 2005.
In December 2005, Maranatha held a colorful and dignified
first graduation for those students completing requirements
for a Higher Diploma. It was presided over by Elias Mbau,
the Member of Parliament for Maragua at that time. In the
year 2006 December, the College held its second graduation
at Kenya Institute of Education (KIE) which was graced by
the under- secretary for His Excellency, Former Vice President
of the Republic of Kenya Hon Dr Moody Awori.
Over the following years many students have receive Certificates,
Diplomas, and Higher Diplomas in the field of Counselling.
Counselors from Maranatha have been featured in the Daily
Nation and the Nairobi Star. Our counselors have appeared
on Nation TV and Citizen TV and have participated in numerous
radio programs.
The college library offers reference materials focusing on
such topics as counseling psychology, social research, education
psychology, leadership and public speaking, drugs and substances
abuse, guidance and counseling for schools, pastoral and biblical
counseling, play therapy. Along with the reference materials
the college offers cyber/email services, photocopying, binding
and typesetting services. There is also a very comfortable
reading space and environment for conducive to serious study
is provided.
